About INCAS³

INCAS³ was formed in 2008 on the initiative of the Province of Drenthe, the Municipality of Assen and the Foundation Sensor Universe to create a bridge between basic knowledge and the practical applicability of sensor systems. INCAS³ is an independent, non-profit research institute capable of quickly and flexibly responding to sensor technology demands from science and industry. The research is carried out on its premises in Assen by doctoral students, postdocs, and senior scientists in combination with a team of excellent engineers.

Job description

An engineer at INCAS³ is the actual bridge between the scientific ideas and field prototypes. You will be a partner for the scientific team when it comes to assessing the feasibility of their ideas. This requires that the engineers are and remain experts in a broad range of sensor related technologies. You will be working as a member and a manager of the team. The managerial responsibilities consist of:

Time management of the engineering team
Monitoring the progress of all engineering projects
Liaison to the scientific teams and to the executive board
Responsible for purchasing and inventory of components

Candidate Profile

MSc in Engineering
Minimum 5 years of relevant professional engineering experience, 2 years of which in a management position
Strong software or hardware embedded engineering skills
Hands-on experience with hardware/software integration and embedded system bring-up
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and preferably also in Dutch
Strong creativity, analytical skills, and effective problem solving skills
Proven ability to work effectively in research teams
Open communication skills and team-playing attitude

Working Conditions

Appointment: Full-time
Remuneration: Salary scale 11 depending on qualifications and according to Collective Labor Agreement of the Dutch Universities
Contract: One-year contract with the possibility of extension
Location: Assen, The Netherlands
