The dedication of INCAS³ to developing innovative sensor solutions for SMEs inspired the creation of Technology Improvement Projects (TIPs).

Within the TIPs program, SMEs can approach INCAS³ with sensor-related questions. These inquiries can range from requests for an evaluation of existing sensor systems, a market scan for sensor systems that solves a specific measurement problem, or may even involve the development of a new sensor prototype.

In general the approach is split into two stages. In the first stage, INCAS³ researchers or engineers perform a complimentary (20 hours max.) assessment of the question to determine whether INCAS³ will be able to answer it. If so, they will provide a method to achieve a solution.

Provided that the SME agrees with the proposed solution, a joint project will be initiated. Funding may be supplied either by the SME itself or with the support of a third party funding agency. INCAS³ can provide assistance in making funding requests.
